Worst “Traitors” In Football History

Mario Götze – From Borussia Dortmund to Bayern Munich and from Bayern Munich to Borussia Dortmund

One of the most famous betrayals in recent years is that of Mario Götze against Borussia Dortmund. Growing up in the Schwarzgelben juniors, the young German was at the peak of his career in 2013 and had played a decisive role in taking Borussia to the Champions League final where rivals from Bayern Munich were waiting for them. In a particularly unfair move the Bavarians, already interested in the player, began to make contact and discuss a possible engagement before the final.

This, of course, infuriated the Dortmund. The worst thing, however, in the end, was Gotze who not only accepted the transfer to Munich almost immediately but declared himself unable to play in the final (in a rather dubious way), most likely so as not to risk hurting his future team. Ironically, the German returned to Dortmund today.
